Description
In 2005, Kotpad Handloom Fabric became the first textile product from Odisha to receive the prestigious Geographical Indication (GI) tag, recognising its unique cultural identity, traditional craftsmanship, and regional heritage.
The beauty of Kotpad sarees is further enriched by traditional tribal motifs such as Matsya, symbolising fish, life, and the rivers that sustain communities, and Mandir, inspired by temple and Kumbha forms. Together, these motifs weave a story of spirituality, nature, community, and the deep connection between people and their environment.
